Dakar · Senegal · est. for women, by women

A Quran academy run entirely by Senegambian women, teaching sisters worldwide.

Live online classes in Quran recitation and Tajweed, Arabic, Islamic studies, and the adab of the student of knowledge. Taught by Senegambian women teachers, Monday through Friday, in Arabic, Wolof, English and French.

A student in quiet study — light catching the page.

وَقُل رَّبِّ زِدْنِى عِلْمًۭا

And say: my Lord, increase me in knowledge.

The five courses

A week of live, small-cohort classes.

Why Sakinah

Sakinah means tranquillity, the quiet that settles when the Quran is recited with care.

Our classes are small enough that the teacher learns every student's voice: her strengths, the verses she finds difficult, the days she is tired. We do not promise quick results. We promise care, patience, and the company of women who have walked this path before you.

Tuition supports the teachers' livelihoods and the families studying with them. Sisters who cannot pay full tuition are sponsored by readers like you.

Hadith of the week

A word from the Sunnah, every week.

مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيَقُلْ خَيْرًا أَوْ لِيَصْمُتْ

Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him speak good or remain silent.

al-Nawawī · Forty Hadith №15 (Bukhārī & Muslim)

There is a class for every level, Monday through Friday. Find yours.

Whether you are a beginner, refining your recitation, or strengthening your relationship with the Quran, there is a place for you, in shāʾ Allāh.
